She was the people's princess (žmonių princesė)
..... Diana Francis Spencer was born on July the first (1) 1961 in Sandringham Norfolk.
Her aristocratic family had had close ties (ryšius) with Britain's royal family for
centuries and included illustrious (garsius) members like Sir Winston Churchill.
At age seven Diana went to live with her father after her parents divorce. She attended (lankė) first-class schools and while (nors) she was not considered an exceptional student (nebuvo laikoma puiki mokinė..) the shy (drovi) Diana did excel (pasižymėjo) in pursuits (veiklose) like music dancing and swimming.
in 1975 her father became the Earl Spencer which meant (reiškė) Diana earned (pelnė) the title Lady.
Two years later Lady D met Charles Prince of Wales while (kol) he was dating (susitikinėjo) her older sister Sarah.
By the end of the 1970s Diana was living in London where she fostered (puoselėjo) her love of children as a nanny (auklė) and teacher.
It wasn't long before her acquaintance (pažintis) with Prince Charles grew (išaugo)
into more and the two began a courtship (romaną)
despite (nepaisant) their 13-year age difference...
After six months of dating Charles and Diana announced (pranešė) their engagement (apie jų sužadėtuves) on February 24 1981
The world became (tapo) enamoured (įsimylėjęs) with the couple and since (kadangi) Charles was next in line to the British throne the media was fascinated.
Approximately 750 million people gathered (susirinko) around their televisions on
July 29 1981 to watch this fairytale (pasakiškas) wedding (vestuves) at st. Paul's Cathedral and it
was even marked (buvo netgi pažymėta) as a national holiday (išeiginė) in the United Kingdom.
Diana wore (vilkėjo) a spectacular dress with a 25-foot (pėdos = 7,60 metrai) train (šleifas) which marked the beginning of her reign (jos valdžią) as a style icon (kaip stiliaus dievaitė, ikona)
A few months after the wedding the Prince and Princess announced (pranešė) Diana's first pregnancy (nėštumą)
Prince William was born in June, the next year followed by Prince Harry in September 1984.
By all accounts (visų liudyjimu) Diana was an available (dėmesinga) and loving mother to her boys .
However, even then (jau tada) she struggled (sunkiai tvėrė) with the scrutiny (nuolatinį dėmesį) and responsibilities (pareigas) associated with her post.
it was later revealed (buvo atskleista) that she suffered (kentėjo) from bulimia and depression
during this time and had contemplated (mąstė apie) suicide (savižudybę).
She turned to (pasuko į) charity work (labdaros veiklą) as a means to cope (tam, kad galėtų ištverti) and frequently visited sick (sergančius) children as well
as AIDS and leprosy (maro) patients.
In fact, Diana was the first celebrity (įžymybė)
photographed touching (liečianti) an HIV (ŽIV virusu) infected person
Unfortunately, as the 1980s progressed
Diana and Charles privately drifted apart (privačiai atitolo vienas nuo kito)
in mid 1992 news of affairs on both sides of the marriage (naujienos apie meilės romanus iš abiejų pusių)
... was splashed (pasklido) across the tabloids (po bulvarinę spaudą)
and British Prime Minister John Major announced their separation (išsiskyrimą) that December :
"it is announced from Buckingham Palace that with regret The Prince and Princess of Wales have
decided to separate. Their royal highnesses have no plans to divorce and their constitutional positions are unaffected."
More lurid (dar intymesnės) details of the royal couple's extramarital romances surfaced (iškilo) over the next few years
until the couple finally divorced on August 28, 1996.
Diana continued lending (teikti) her support (paramą) and celebrity to charities including the
International Campaign to Ban Landmines (Tarpt. Akcija Uždrausti Lauko minas)
which won (laimėjo) a Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.
Diana also had high-profile (aukšto statuso) relationships (mylimieji) following her divorce
though she mostly protected (slėpė) these from media (žiniasklaidos) attention
By mid 1997 she was dating (susitikinėjo) Egyptian film producer Dodi Fayed
it was with him that she travelled to Paris in August 1997
As the couple attempted (bandė) to thwart (suklaidinti) paparazzi they were
chased (buvo vaikomi) through the city streets at high speeds (dideliu greičiu)
Unfortunately, just after midnight on August 31st 1997 the car's driver Arie Paul lost (prarado) control
and they crashed (trenkėsi) in the Ponte Lama tunnel at approximately 65 miles (=100 km/val) per hour. Since none (nei vienas) of the occupants were wearing seatbelts (saugos diržų) , the driver and Fayed were killed (buvo užmušti) instantly.
Diana survived (išgyveno) the crash (smūgį) but succumbed (mirė) to her injuries (sužeidimų)
in hospital hours later.
"...Stephen, I have to interrupt there because within the last few moments the Press Association in Britain citing unnamed British sources has reported that Diana Princess of Wales had died..."
Diana's death elicited outpourings(protrūkius) of grief (sielvarto) worldwide (pasaulyje)
It also prompted (paskatino) numerous (daugybę) conspiracy (sąmokslo) theories
and false rumors (gandų) though (nors) an official investigation (tyrimas)
blamed (kaltino ) the crash drivers reckless speed (nesaugų greitį) and high blood alcohol level (aukštą alkoholio lygį kraujyje)
There was intense speculation that it was not an accident.
The most outrageous (skandalingiausia) theories contended (teigė)
she was assassinated by the royal family (buvo nužudyta karališkos šeimos)
due to her relationship with Fayed (dėl romano su Fajedu)
which was a hypothesis supported by Fayed's own father (kurios laikėsi pats Fajedo tėvas)
Diana's funeral (laidotuvės) was televised from Westminster Abbey on September 6.
And millions tuned in (įsijungė laidą) across the world
to say their final goodbyes
Despite (nepaisant) her tragic end Princess Diana is remembered (yra prisimenama)
for her philanthropy, humanitarianism, style and grace (elegancijos)
By growing (išaugdama iš) from a shy girl (drovios mergaitės) into a confident advocate (teisių kovotoja) she will always be remembered as the Princess of Hearts.

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
to stand by [stend bai] - stovėti greta
So darling, darling stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
to tumble [tambl] - sulinguoti, sudrebėti
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
to crumble [krambl] - subyrėti, susmukti
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
to shed [šed] - numesti, nuberti, išlieti
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh, stand now by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me,
Oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me
