I'm a little late with the homework this time. :) Sorry everyone!
During our last meeting we learnt how to say in English where something or someone was in the past and we also had new words about places in cities, towns or villages.
1.
Note the word order and remember!

There was - Buvo (vns.) There was a resort in Pasvalys in the past - Pasvalyje seniau buvo kurortas
There were - Buvo (dgs.) There were stone paved streets in Pasvalys in the past - Pasvalyje seniau buvo akmenim grįstos gatvės
There wasn't - Nebuvo (vns.)- There wasn't electricity a hundred years ago - Elektros prieš šimtą metų nebuvo
There weren't - Nebuvo (dgs.) - There weren't any supermarkets in the past - Praeityje nebuvo jokių prekybos centrų
Was there a market a hundred years ago? (vns.)- Ar buvo turgus prieš šimtą metų?
Were there shops a hundred years ago? (dgs.) Ar buvo parduotuvės prieš šimtą metų?
Yes, there was/No, there wasn't (vns.)- Taip/Ne
Yes, there were/No, there weren't(dgs.) - Taip/Ne
2.
Do the exercises on page 99 in your Student Book
.
Check 6A(b) with the previous comment, it is well done - no mistakes! :cheer:

3.
Go to 'Sound Bank' in you Interactive CD: Vowels - 'Chair'.
Repeat and remember how to say 'there'
I very often say 'there' in a wrong way. Don't listen to me, listen to Sound Bank! ;)

4.
Learn new words for places (page 115 in Student Book , the audio is in 'NEF Class CDs' / CD3 - track 24 6.7)

Remember: a chemist's - vaistinė; a bus station / a railway or a train station [bas steišn, reilwei/trein steišn] - autobusų, geležinkelio arba traukinių stotis, a petrol station - benzino kolonėlė; a market -turgus; awful [o:ful] = terrible - siaubingas

5.
Do the exercises on page 46 in Workbook:

There aren't any mistakes. Perfect! :)

Here's what I can tell about Pasvalys.
anymore [enimo:] - daugiau
I was born in Panevėžys but my hometown is Pasvalys. I lived in Pasvalys when I was a child and I live here now. Pasvalys isn't the same as it was a long time ago. I remember there was a railway station in Pasvalys thirty years ago. There isn't a railway station in Pasvalys anymore, there are flats in the old station house now. There were three or four newsagent's kiosks in Pasvalys some time ago and there aren't any kiosks anymore. There was a clinic in the town centre and there isn't a clinic anymore, but the building is. There's the Community Health Centre on the second floor of the building, there's Pasvalys museum offices and municipality land service offices on the first floor, there's a bank on the ground floor. There were phone booths in Pasvalys in the past, but there aren't any now. People have mobile phones now, they don't need landline phones anymore.

Hi, Chris,
How are you?
Last weekend I went to the Beach Hotel. It was a complete disaster. The room was small and cold. There wasn't any restaurant, any coffee, any towels in the room, any TV, any hot water. The receptionist was not frendly. There wasn't a beach near the hotel. There weren't any shops in the village, but there was a post office. The weather at the beach was terrible.
I am looking forward to having holidays next summer in better hotel than this Beach Hotel.
See you later.

Hi, Violeta! Thank you for your email. So nice to hear that you and your family had a good time in Anykščiai. I hope you have a good working week now :cheer: My last stay at a hotel wasn't very comfortable. It was last summer, I stayed at a hotel in Palanga for two days. I went to Palanga with a group of holiday makers from Pasvalys. We booked a weekend at Vilnius Polytechnic Institute Hotel. The hotel was very cheap and it was very well located, in the centre of Palanga, about a quater hour's walk to the beach. But it was old and it didn't offer any extra services. It didn't serve breakfast and it didn't have bathrooms in rooms, we had to share common toilets and showers with other costumers on the floor, there wasn't any room service during our stay, we took out our garbage ourselves. But I enjoyed my stay in Palanga. I spent a little time at the hotel, I went there only to sleep at night and to take a shower. I stayed most of the time on the beach, I went for long walks in the city park, around the city centre, I went to listen to outdoor concerts, I saw the dancing fontaine of Palanga. I think I will go to the seaside next summer too and I think I will book my seaside holiday with the same travel agent. This travel agent is Pasvalys Country Museum and it charges about 30 Euros for the summer weekend in Palanga :)
See you at the library next time!
Best wishes,
Jurate

My last trip by train
The last time I was on a train was two or three years ago. I went on my work trip to Spain and I had to go from the capital city Madrid to the North of Spain, to the city of Burgos where an international conference for librarians took place. I had my train ticket booked online in Lithuania. I arrived in Madrid by plane, I took the bus to the train station, I found the correct platform and I waited for the train. I was very happy I wasn't late. When I got on the train, I saw that it was very modern, it had very comfortable seats, it moved very fast and in silence. There weren't a lot of people on the train. I sat next to an old elegant man. I thought he was Spanish because he talked in Spanish on the phone. A train attendant gave everyone earphones and turned on a big screen with a Hollywood film on it. He also brought juice, tea and coffee. I was very pleased. I didn't watch the film, I fell asleep. Our train arrived in Burgos in two hours. It was late in the night, about midnight. I got off the train and I went to look for a taxi. I saw the same old Spanish man at the taxi stop. We started to talk. The man was from Spanish Culture Ministry and he was one of the organizers of the conference. He paid for my taxi because I was a guest in his country. I arrived in my hotel a little tired but happy. I liked my trip on the train very much. I didn't go back from Burgos by train because we had a bus booked to the airport in Madrid.

Why didn't Olivia come to the theatre?
